The primary characteristic of cast-iron bearing units is their ability to withstand heavy loads without generating vibration. These units can be equipped with a dedicated lubrication fitting to allow for periodic regreasing; however, the mounting hole for such a fitting may compromise the structural strength of the unit. Under normal operating conditions, the initial grease charge is sufficient to last the entire service life of the bearing unit.
