Tapered roller bearings consist of an outer ring (cup) and an inner ring assembly (cone)—the latter comprising the inner ring, rollers, and cage—with both rings featuring matching tapered raceways. As a type of rolling-element bearing, they are designed to accommodate both axial and radial loads. Their axial load-carrying capacity increases with the taper angle; the larger the taper angle, the greater the contact angle.
